Materials
What is your jewellery made from?
Our jewellery is crafted from brass with 18- or 22-carat gold plating.
Depending on the design, each piece is finished with either 1 micron or 2 microns of gold plating. The gold carat and plating thickness are always listed on the individual product page.
Why do you use brass?
Brass is widely used by contemporary jewellery brands because it provides a durable base for high-quality gold plating while allowing beautiful detail to be achieved during production.
Are your gemstones natural?
Many of our designs feature natural gemstones and shell.
Because they are created by nature, every stone is unique. Slight variations in colour, pattern and texture are part of their natural beauty and make every piece one of a kind.
Is your jewellery handmade?
Yes.
Some pieces are handcrafted by skilled Fairtrade artisans in India, while others are handmade and finished in our Surrey studio. Each product page explains how that particular piece is made.
Jewellery Care
Can I wear my jewellery in water?
We recommend removing your jewellery before swimming, showering or exercising to help preserve its finish.
Can I wear perfume while wearing my jewellery?
Yes—but apply perfume, body lotion and sunscreen first, allowing them to dry before putting on your jewellery.
How should I store my jewellery?
Store each piece separately in its Tamarin Bay pouch or jewellery box to help prevent scratches and tangles.
Can my jewellery be replated?
Gold-plated jewellery naturally benefits from occasional care over time. While we don't currently offer a replating service, we're exploring this for the future.
If you'd like advice about caring for your jewellery, please get in touch—we're always happy to help.
Product Information
Will my jewellery look exactly like the photographs?
We do our very best to photograph every piece accurately.
As many of our designs feature natural gemstones and shell, slight variations in colour, shape and pattern are part of what makes every piece beautifully unique.
Do you restock sold-out items?
Many of our collections are produced in small batches.
If an item is unavailable, we'd be happy to let you know when it's back in stock. Simply contact us at info@tamarinbay.co.uk.
Do you offer different bracelet sizes or necklace lengths?
Where available, sizes and lengths are shown on each product page.
If you're unsure which size to choose, we'd be delighted to help.
